Making a list and checking it twice? With the holidays around the corner, it is time to start thinking about gifts for your loved ones. Alternatively, if you plan on getting yourself a little something-something, I’m not judging. I had a lot of fun making this list; there is so much out there that could help make a traveler’s trip easier or help them with inspiration for their next trip. It definitely helps to receive some of these items because then they have more money for a plane ticket! Yay! All of the items on this list are items I personally own or are on my wish list, “hint hint wink wink.”

Suitcase tags are a great option for anyone because there is so many different options out there! Lost luggage is a very real problem. I also have an irrational fear of someone accidently stealing my bag. Travel tags are an easy way to make your bag more recognizable. Too many times have I watched bags come rolling out from the dark tunnel at the airport with dangling pieces of string that people have fastened to make their basic black suitcase stand out with. This just doesn’t seem like a very effective option, but a luggage tag will stay fastened on to your luggage.
I have been personally victimized by twisted up passport pages because of it being shoved in my bag. Once I got a passport cover that all changed. Passport covers are an easy way to keep your passport, money, luggage tag, and cards in one place. The Moko travel wallet is great for both single travelers and people traveling as a family. It has two passport holders, it is RFID blocking, pen loop, and so many other great features!
At some point, every traveler has wondered if they are over their weight limit. Let’s be real, no one wants to pay extra luggage fees. With a handy weigh scale, you do not need to worry about whether or not your luggage weighs too much or have to juggle around the contents of your suitcase at the check in. The AmazonBasics digital scale hold up to 110lbs/50kg and can easily convert to what unit of measurement you need!

Travel Toiletry Containers
There is nothing worse than when you open up your luggage, only to realize that your favorite shampoo has spilled everywhere! Small travel containers are great because they help keep your liquids secure and can be TSA friendly in your carryon. These travel bottles are made of silicone and are very durable. They come in a clear plastic case for you to take through security with ease.
Journaling has been sort of a lost art in the last little bit. We live in a world where we take pictures and videos of everything. Many times I have found myself trying to recollect certain memories about a trip that I wish I would have written down because the pictures don’t tell me what I want to know. Journaling is a great way to remember how you were feeling in those moments and to remember little details of your travels.
It is a known fact that humans need water to live… But why does a little bottle of it at the airport cost you an arm and a leg!? Sure they give you free water when you are on an aircraft, but what about for those long layovers? Sadly, you are on your own for that. Hydration is super important for traveling, it helps to improve your mood, cut down on fatigue, and helps to prevent blood clots in your legs. When I look for a water bottle, I look for one that is easy to clean and will keep my water fresher for longer. Airports will have water fountains for you to use, but just make sure you wait until after security to fill it up. This water bottle is great because you can put hot and cold drinks in it that lasts, it has a clip on the handle, it comes with two lids, and it is sweat free.
I am a very big firm believer in receiving socks and underwear in a stocking. Compression socks really aren’t that glamorous of a gift, but they can be literal lifesavers. Blood clots in the legs or deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a very serious condition and can be easily triggered while traveling. Compression socks help to provide a consistent pressure to the lower limbs to help maintain blood flow, decrease swelling, and decrease discomfort. If you have not traveled with them before, I highly suggest you start getting in the habit of it. The Cambivo come in various sizes, so make sure to check out their sizing chat.
*If you have any underlying heart or circulation issues, Check with your doctor about getting a referral for the right sock pressure for you*
If you are not super keen on getting someone a gift, you could always get them a gift card to local attractions, grocery stores, amazon, or even a gift card to a local travel agent. Travel agents have been definitely hit incredibly hard by the pandemic. They have had to give back most of their small commissions from trips that were canceled. Booking through a travel agent comes at no extra cost to you and you can decide how much help you want with booking. A gift card will usually cover anything from flights, hotels, or full trips.
If you are looking for a great travel agent I would suggest Tammy Biblow and her team at Vacations Yorkton (In Canada). She can help you out with all your travel needs.
Amazon also gives you the option of doing gift cards as well if you are really stuck

A good backpack for traveling is like the perfect set of slippers. Fits right, makes you believe that you are not wearing anything, and can be used for a few different purposes. I have a pretty versatile backpack that I use for both traveling and for everyday use. I saw the Nordace backpack in an ad one time, and knew that I just needed to have it. It has lots of different types of compartments, it is easy to wear, stylish, and you can also add on a storage cube to your order. I use my backpack for everything and would rather use a backpack as a carryon then anything else.
Reading is a favorite past time for many, especially for travelers. It helps to pass the time for those times that you don’t have internet. Books are generally heavy and bulky. A kindle is a great option because you can download a few different books and don’t have to worry about it taking up too much space or weight in your bags. Kindles can be taken anywhere from the beach, or to the cabin. They can be used during travel or when you are stuck at home and cannot go anywhere. Generally e-books are a little bit cheaper as well because they aren’t using paper.
City Maps Coloring Book
Adult coloring books can be a great option for anyone looking to pass time, destress, or dream of their next destination. How cool is it to start coloring somewhere and being like, “I have been there!”. This coloring book linked below could be a great addition to a gift exchange, stocking stuffer, for teens, or for adults!

GoPro and Accessories
A lot of travelers I know have some sort of GoPro to help document their travels. However, it can be quite an expensive investment, and most of the accessories come separately. This is definitely a bigger gift unless you are just purchasing them accessories for a GoPro that they already have. Just make sure if you buy something like this you know which model of Go Pro they have and if they have any sort of accessories for it.
GoPro HERO9 Black – Waterproof Action Camera with Front LCD and Touch Rear Screens, 5K Ultra HD Video, 20MP Photos, 1080p Live Streaming, Webcam, Stabilization (This is the newest version as of Nov. 2020 but we have the hero 5 and it works well for what we need!)
If someone tells you that you have too many mugs, just remember you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. Mugs are honestly one of my favorite souvenirs and I just love them in general. They are a pretty low-risk gift that you could create a gift basket with. Hot chocolate, Bailey’s, warm soft things, movie tickets, and popcorn would accompany a mug perfectly.
Carryon styles are based on preference and ability to carry a bag or not. This Hynes Eagle is the best of both worlds. You can either wheel it or carry it like a backpack. It is flight approved, made of waterproof material, has a retractable handle, and even comes with an electronics organizer.
I finally decided to buy packing cubes when we made the move to Scotland, and I was so happy that I did. The Meowoo set has different sizes to fit all of your traveling needs. The top is mesh so that you can see what is inside the cube, they come in different colors, easy to wash, lightweight, and I like the different options of bags that they offer. My organizing was almost a little too good with these because I was initially over my weight limit.
At first, I was super against over the ear headphones. That was until my husband got a pair, and I hated to admit it, but I really loved them. These headphones have great sound quality, reasonably priced, are comfortable, adjustable, have an option for extra bass, and the earpieces can fold in to make for easier packing. I am one of those people who ears really start to hurt after an hour of wearing the traditional ear piece headphones. These are great because they do not cause discomfort and are also noise cancelling for those noisy flights.
World Scratch Map
Scratch maps are every travelers dream to own. Now you can display where you have been in the world. These can be quite popular, at one point I was gifted three of them! The one thing I wish I would have gotten with it is a frame, so that I could better display it as it sits rolled up in it’s tube.
A Lightweight All Weather Jacket
The jacket I have been using and loving is over 8 years old and I unfortunately can’t find it anymore. However, I did find a Mountain Warehouse jacket that is very similar to the one I have. A good jacket is important in helping you to keep warm in unpredictable weather. Wind resistant, waterproof, lightweight, and made of stretchy material in the panels. This is also a great cost-effective option, my jacket was around $50 and has lasted me a long time. If you plan on going on crazy hikes, I would possibly consider a different option.
I am definitely used to just buying cheap travel pillows but I think one of the next items on my wish list is a decent travel pillow. I like how this one you can wash and fold down into half of it’s size, and it is even memory foam. I will update once I get the chance to try it!
Most of what we do now is on our phones or computers. We rely heavily on them for boarding tickets, directions, the time, entertainment, and much more. With all of these uses, your electronics often go dead quite quick. There is nothing more annoying then being in an airport and unable to find any outlets to charge your phone. I really like how this charging bank has solar panels in it so that it can recharge as your charging your phone. It is small and easily fits in your bag.
I hope you enjoyed this small curated list. There can be something for everyone! Pretty much all of the links are affiliate links but these come at no extra cost to you if you decide to buy something. I may receive a small commission to help me purchase future gadgets or go towards my travel dreams!
